Bran ~ I must confess that the melons, gourds grapes , etc., are grown by my Portuguese neighbor's mother. Their yard is enclosed by chain link fence & every inch is covered with a vining fruit or vegetable. All neatly tended. As you might suspect, I don't work that way ~ you've seen photos of my lawn…
Fortunately for me, she speaks very little english. I suspect I drive her nuts.

it's always life-affirming to see vegetables on vines near urban chain link fences. sort of like Ma Joad, We are the people that live, and all that.
