I'm gone…

Well, maybe… I am nothing if not ambivalent.

I've been feeling that things have been stale here for the past few months so I have decided to take a hiatus to consider the future of Rabbit Meets Hat. At this point my intention is to take an extended break, lasting a month or two but, to be honest, ending the blog is also something that is on the table. I just can't say right now. It has been difficult to come up with posts lately & the effort has not been particularly satisfying for me or, I suspect, terribly interesting for anyone else. (I'm not fishing for encouragement here: I really am at an impasse.) I'm hoping that stepping away will help sort it out. There are also some personal issues placing heavy demands on my time & energy at the moment, to the point that I've been feeling like a rather inept juggler: red-faced & sweaty with balls & broken crockery scattered about my feet…

When I first started RMH with no direction or goal, my friend George at 1904 said this would be fun. Well, he was right; it has been ~ so much more than I ever imagined. I hope that my seven or eight regular readers (You know who you are…) have enjoyed it as well. (Something must have resonated because you kept coming back, right?) I've met some very nice, very interesting people here & all of you should feel free to keep in touch via e-mail or on Facebook. (I'm hoping you will…)

Dear MWN,

Most importantly: please take good care of yourself.

No need to make any more big decisions about the blog right now! Rest; attend to other things in your life; rest some more. Revisit the issue when the time seems right.

This post was sad to read, but I'm glad I (virtually) met you through your blog and have gotten to correspond with you; I hope that will continue.

Thanks for your posts! Hope to see you back, but in the meantime, here's wishing you much luck and love. :)

I blame Obama for killing off the blogs. He's got us thinking we should do something constructive and not just piss into the wind. I decide to kill off my blog at least once or twice a day.

Anyway, I'll forgive you if you promise to take your paintings and photographs to galleries and see what they say. Your work is very, very special and vastly superior to 99% of what they're showing in Chelsea these days.

I will most likely be back but I just need a break. I did a post about it because I hate when people just stop posting with no explanation ~ the reader has no idea if they were hit by a truck or just got bored.

NOOOOOOOOOO.

Okay, I was gonna do this whole Hepburn-to-Fonda-On-Golden-Pond thing but it's not very funny in print. Plus I totally get it. Roman is right, I decide to quit at least once or twice a day too. Blogging, I mean. I've already given up everything else. Or at least practically everything, and the only thing left is the one they said would make me go blind, and it hasn't yet, even though I admit I've worn glasses since first grade -- and I hadn't even gotten started in first grade, damnit.

Just stay in touch no matter what. Blogging is like writing letters used to be, I think. And Yvonne is right, take care of yourself.

Loving you to pieces,
your old friend in the west,
1904
